| Meet the Advancement Team
Nancy Boyer, Development Associate for Alumni Relations Nancy joined Blair’s Advancement Office in September 2009 and is responsible for editing the Class Notes section of each Blair Bulletin, as well as assisting with event planning – including Alumni Weekend – prospect research and reporting, data entry and graphic design. Prior to her work here at Blair, she owned and operated a small business offering similar assistance to such clients as The Lawrenceville School, the director of finance at a private university, a local school superintendent, attorneys and regional entrepreneurs. Her services included data management, as well as word processing and proofreading of academic, medical and scientific journals, along with manuscripts for published and aspiring authors.
Nancy, who received an associate of arts degree fromthe County College of Morris, was a Girl Scout leader for her daughter Kim’stroop for 13 years, and well as the service unit manager for Girl Scouts of NorthernNew Jersey since 2001. She continues to serve as a troop leader today. She andher husband, Rich, are active in their township’s fire and rescue company,where Nancy has served as treasurer since 1999. | | Meredith Buck Gal ’02, Assistant Director of Annual Giving As assistant director of annual giving, Meredith works closely with Cara Mohlmann and Velma Lubliner on the Blair Fund, with specific outreach to the young alumni constituency. The daughter of faculty member Blair Buck, Meredith attended Queens University and then graduate school at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She has strong interests in fine art and fundraising and has worked at Linda Silverman Fine Art and Christie’s Auction House in New York. Meredith is married to Lyle Gal who is serving in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, stationed in South Korea.

| | Sue Habermann, Director of Capital Giving Sue is responsible for parent, grandparent and parents of alumni giving at Blair Academy. She oversees parent relations and keeps parents up-to-date on current Blair happenings via the Web site and newsletters. Sue and her husband, Bill, live in Blairstown and have three children, Eric ’07, Meredith ’04 and Will ’02. In addition to working in human resources and with other non-profit agencies, she has taught high school and middle school English.
During her time at Blair, she has worked in many capacities. She coordinated Blair’s Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary), was director of special events, and oversaw the school’s Bartow Performing Arts. With a B.A. in liberal arts from The University of Massachusetts, she has also completed graduate work at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

| | Susan Long, Director of Parent Relations
Susan joined Blair’s development office in the summer of 2008. She helps to coordinate the parent programs and parent volunteer activities at the school. Before coming to Blair, she worked as a volunteer at Camp Auxilium Learning Center and St. Joseph Regional School, both in nearby Newton. There she organized open house events and coordinated many large fundraising events and parent groups. Susan graduated with a B.A. in psychology from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. | | Velma Lubliner,Director of Reunion Giving
Velma is a Blair Mom (Justin ’05 and Jenna ’09) who began working with the alumni and development office as a parent volunteer. She officially joined the staff in 2007, working with parent and alumni relations, and became director of reunion giving in 2008. She enjoys working with alumni volunteers and particularly likes to hear the joyful oral history of Blair from so many of them. Prior to coming to Blair, she worked at The Evergreen Community School in Mountainhome, PA, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Velma, who graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B. A. in theatre arts, also taught voice in New York City and Stroudsburg, PA. | | Jenny Maine, Director of Alumni Relations Jenny started her Blair career in the admissions office as the associate director from 1986-1991. In 1989, she founded and coached the first girls’ soccer team. In the summer of 1991, she took a 10-year hiatus from Blair and moved back to her hometown in Minneapolis, Minn., where she served as director of the annual fund, alumni director and special events coordinator for her alma mater, The Blake School. Back at Blair since 2001, Jenny serves as Blair’s director of alumni relations. Jenny is married to Eric Maine ’77. They have two children, Jack ’13 and Harley. Jenny received both her B.A. and M. Ed degrees at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.

| | Joanne Miceli, Director of Stewardship
Joanne came to Blair in 2008 as a development associate for the Ever, Always campaign and was named director of stewardship in 2009. A graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in English, she worked as a freelance writer and editor for various companies and non-profit organizations while raising her family. She serves on the Princeton University Alumni Schools Committee and is a longtime volunteer and past trustee of The Growing Stage – The Children’s Theatre of New Jersey. Joanne and her husband, Jim, have two children. Contact: micelj@blair.edu or 908-362-6121 ext. 5715 | | Cara Mohlmann, Director of Advancement Operations & Annual Giving Cara joined the Blair development team in November of 2004 after spending seven years at Lafayette College as assistant director of the annual fund. There she directed several programs such as the young alumni fund, the parent fund, the senior class fund drive and volunteer initiatives. She began her career at Blair as the director of planned giving and stewardship. Cara took on the role of director of annual giving in July 2007 – a great opportunity to use her annual fund background to work and grow the Blair Fund.
Cara graduated from Lafayette College in 1997 with a B.A. in anthropology and sociology. She presently resides in Bangor, Pa., with her husband, Josh, and two young daughters, Emma and Olivia. During her free time Cara enjoys reading and working in her gardens.

| | Joe Perz, Director of Advancement Services Joe joined the development team in 2001 after spending 12 years in Drew University’s development office. He coordinates donor research, the alumni data base and the development office’s use of technology. Joe graduated from Drew University with a degree in political science. His step-daughter Tamara is a member of the class of 2006.

| | Susan N. Staats, Development Associate
Susan joined the Blair community in 1981 and works with the director of advancement, assisting in the areas of major gift prospects and maintaining the prospect tracking. Other responsibilities include implementing a computer training program, record keeping for planned giving, assisting with the coordination of Trustee events, maintaining the accounting records for capital gifts received, and maintaining historical documents regarding Trustees, covenants, deeds of trusts, resolutions, bylaw amendments and Blair family genealogy.
